Substance use disorder and addiction constitute a public health crisis affecting virtually every community in the Commonwealth. State and local leadership is needed to address this epidemic effectively.

At the Massachusetts Addiction Prevention Alliance, we believe knowledge is the key to building a lasting change.

Much of our work is focused on debunking commonly-held myths about substance misuse and addiction with hard facts: trusted medical and scientific research, empirical data, and proven best practices.

We build partnerships and engage with people in the scientific community as well as professionals across sectors to gain access to reliable, accurate data and research. We then work collaboratively with other groups to get this information into the hands of elected officials, civic leaders, and the general public so it can be used to inform drug policy, regulation and local control decisions.
