MAPA continues to engage state and local leaders to prevent drug use and addiction in the Commonwealth. MAPA has held closed-door, legislative briefings; has testified at committee hearings and public health listening sessions, and coordinated multi-sector testimony for various bills at the state house in Boston. We have canvassed the state house with information specific to our prevention initiatives and have held multiple press conferences there. Our calls to legislative action alerts consistently generate strong response.

The outcomes of all of MAPA’s research and community-based education initiatives help promote local and state-level drug policies that prioritize public health and protect youth in the Commonwealth from drug use and addiction. MAPA’s work serves to strengthen the forces in our network in the interest of primary prevention. We continue to arm our people with information to strengthen constituency-based, legislative advocacy efforts.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
