The Massachusetts Addiction Prevention Alliance (MAPA) is pleased to announce that it is sponsoring a luncheon event, “Marijuana: Addiction, Mental Health and Policy” on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. The event will take place at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum (Columbia Point, Boston) from 12pm – 2pm (Registration Opens 11:30am).
Featured speakers at the event include:
- Alex Berenson, Author of Tell Your Children: the Truth about Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence – An award-winning author and former New York Times reporter reveals the link between marijuana use and mental illness, specifically psychosis and a suspected connection to violence — research the media has ignored as the United States rushes to legalize cannabis.
- Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute On Drug Abuse at the National Institutes of Health – A review of the research findings and advancements made since her Boston keynote appearance in 2014.
- Dr. A. Eden Evins, Founding Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Addiction Medicine and Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School – What clinicians and scientists are learning and seeing locally on the marijuana – psychosis link.
- Will Jones III, Washington DC Fire-fighter, Founder of Two is Enough (TIE DC), advancing addiction prevention and representing SAM (Smart Approaches to Marijuana) – Data and research findings impacting the African American community.
